DIY - Snorkus Mod for Hyundai Coupe
This page shows the snorkus mod, or 'BHP for free' mod. Very simply it is a
matter of removing the restrictive stock air intake.
By removing the 'snorkel' (hence the mod name) the car can suck in more air.
More air means more power!
The mod was originally written by 'Jason' (?) and here is what he wrote -
To gain a couple of bhp for nothing you have to remove the Air Duct and
Resonator from the intake system. It might sound hard but the hardest bit is
getting the toolbox out.
Heres how it's done: - Remove the two cable ties that hold the battery cables
to the bracket on the air duct bracket, then take out the three 10mm bolts out
of the air duct and remove it and that's it. You could also remove the
Resonator as it will no longer be doing anything. To do that remove the bolts
that hold it in place.. And that's it..
This is what you should be left with if you havent removed the Resonator..
You have just gained 5 more horse power for free
