Hyundai Coupe V6 aka 'Tuscani Elisa'

The offical Hyundai information page is now available at http://tuscani.hyundai-motor.com/. Like the pages for the other models you can get details on the interior, exterior and the general specifications.
From what I can gather the 6-speed 2.7litre V6 will be the 'Elisa' model - sounds a bit daft!

7th September

The Hyundai Coupe 'GK' has now been launched in Korea! Autoshow covered the great unveiling and their report can be seen here. I have added their pictures here for ease.

Autoexpress also have an article on the Tuscani, with info on the engine and interior, read it here.

3rd September

The new GK, named Tuscani for the home market will be released in Korea on September 7.
I still believe that the Tuscani will be released in the UK in February next year and the German market may receive the car in March. The original bhp figures for the 2.7litre were a little high, I have found some more reliable figures of 175bhp and 245nm torque at 4000rpm. The new cars dimensions are: length 4,395 mm, width 1,760 mm and height 1,330 mm.

The nearest we are going to get to seeing the new car for the moment is this advertisment from the Hyundai Motor website.

The new Hyundai Coupe is set for its UK launch in February 2002. (exactly 2 years since the last model).

The Hyundai Coupe will still be available in 4 cyclinder 1.6 and 2.0 litre, but will now have the extra option of the V6 engine.
The 2.7 litre V6 will be the engine currently used in the Santa Fe. The 1.6 and 2.0 litre bhp remain the same as previous models with the V6 putting out nearly 200bhp and 0-60 in around seven seconds.
Other updates include a new six-speed manual gear box with the V6 having the extra option of a Porsche-developed 5-speed automatic with a manual override.

Hyundai have said that the new Coupe is more of a grand-tourer than a sports car and will therefore offer more interior space, particularly in the rear. The new cabin also sees an improvement in materials and fixtures from the current model.

Newer information points to the GK being named 'Tuscani' in the home market of Korea, it is believed however that the GK may still be badged as the Coupe in the UK.

Additional pictures have been taken my the Korean Tiburon/Hyundai Coupe club CTC. The pictures were taken when they visited the factory, visit their page.
Because they have specifically asked that no-one downloads any of the pics (just to look) I have only posted the link.

From Autoexpress

A budget-priced sports car with Mercedes power, Ferrari looks and Far Eastern build quality is set to become a showroom reality.

Hyundai has revealed its new Coupe - code-named GK - will feature engines supplied by Mercedes. The news follows the partnership between the Korean firm and DaimlerChrysler, which is expected to be formalised this week. A Hyundai spokesman said: "Mercedes gets our knowledge of volume small car production, while we benefit from Mercedes' engine technology."

The Coupe will offer 1.6 and 2.0-litre four-cylinders and a 2.7-litre V6. These are likely to be Hyundai units at next year's launch. German engines would follow later, as would a cabrio. Meanwhile, entry into the Le Mans 24-Hours and F1 is being considered.
