HYUNDAI'S NEW COUPE SET TO LIVEN UP THE UK MARKET

Hyundai's all-new Coupe was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week, to an extremely favourable reaction from press and public alike.
The new Coupe, which was styled in house by the Namyang design team in Seoul, will represent amazing value for money when it goes on sale in the UK in early 2002.
Developed over a period of 26 months at a cost of US$230 million, the new Coupe will be built at Hyundai's high-tech Ulsan plant in Korea.
The entirely new bodyshell has a drag co-efficient of 0.342, making it more aerodynamically efficient than the Audi TT (0.353) and the Ford Cougar (0.345).

Longer, wider and taller than the previous model, the new Coupe will be available with three engine choices; 1.6, 2.0 and for the first time a 2.7 V6 producing 171 bhp. The engine has previously been seen in the Trajet and Santa Fe.
The 2.0 will be offered with the Porsche designed semi-automatic H-tronic gearbox for the first time, while the 2.7 V6 will be available with either H-tronic or six-speed manual gearbox.

Standard equipment levels will be extremely high, as is the tradition with Hyundai vehicles (see full list below). Standard equipment for all models will include driver, passenger and side airbags, anti-lock brakes, six speaker radio/CD player and air conditioning. The 2.0 and 2.7 V6 will add leather seats and cruise control to this list. Side airbags and Electronic Brake Force Distribution are new features for the Coupe.
